Father Hopkins's poetry is beautiful - but it is challenging as well. I'm thoroughly enjoying both the beauty of his poems and the challenge as well. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the concepts of inscape and instress. His "spring rhythm," however, makes the words come alive on the page: "We, life's pride and cared-for crown,/Have lost that cheer and charm of earth's past prime".

Wow. Hopkins is NOT a poet that you can read quickly. You have to sit with him, think, what does this mean? Go down rabbit holes. Two poems a day, max for me. Best line so far: "O look at all the fire-folk sitting in the air!" He's talking about stars, by the way. This is POETRY!! :)
