And finally, I do find it absolutely insane that this manga doesn’t have a decent adaptation yet. My brother watched them and said that one is better than the other but I remember which. But it is criminal that there’s no solid adaptation is there yet. I wonder if it has anything to do with the mature and graphic content. Either way, I really liked the first volume! And I cannot wait to read more.

Third of all, I so so much love that it was told from the POV of Puck the elf. It distances us a bit from Guts but Kentaro Miura is a superb artist and all the subtleties he is able to convey makes Guts all the more nuanced and interesting. Fourth of all, I loved stumbling upon fromsoft enemies inspirations (my favorite so far is the undying skeletons, they’re a classic!)

And see what’s it all about. That and I was scared of getting spoiled. So, I’m glad I’m finally reading it! Well, let’s get to the review part. First of all, I loved the art! It’s so crisp and dynamic! The use of shadows (especially when illustrating the bad guys) is quite striking. Second of all, I love that it has titled chapters! “Guardian Angels of Desire” is such a pretty name.

I didn’t think I’d read this series this year. I’ve been putting off since I’ve heard about it because I wanted to read it when it was finished but alas, Kentaro Miura passed away in 2021, though his friend Kouji Mori. And for some reason I had this urge to read it now. So I did. The fact that a new chapter (384) dropped a few days back might have also helped in making want to read it with everyone

I take it Count Dahl is one of the Apostles, I wonder how many of them are (I believe we’ve met three so far: counting the demon lady). And what the hell is a Behelit? I want to look it up but I fairy certain that it’s something made up for this world. And I’m pretty sure that it is something important. I’ve seen it in artworks before but were the eyes open? I have so many questions.

Guts’s threat was so bold, sometimes I wonder if he’s a bit suicidal. It’s good that Puck and that physician came to the rescue! Lord Zondark seems like he will have a lifelong grudge for Guts. I still wonder why he didn’t just kill him and be done with it all. I wonder what the physician wants beside wanting Guts to kill the Count, is there something else?

And here goes Guts again, seeking vengeance and threatening Count Dahl this time (I like his design a lot!) who seems to be ruling over a city with fear by ordering the inquisition to find anyone who seems to be a stranger or a spy and accusing them of being heretics. That execution scene at the start of the chapter was brutal, this poor woman (and her brother).

that was intentional or not. I know for a fact is that it bleeds the moment evil spirits or danger is near. He said that the brand summons them. I wonder how. And that deformed creature was there again in the nightmare. He said the incubus gives people nightmares and feed off their fears. That means he is afraid of that thing…interesting. I cannot wait to learn more! This world is fascinating! I love this already.

naked. And his metal left arm is missing (I was right it’s amputated). And from above, a voice (or voices, I think) are taunting him, telling him that no matter where he goes they’ll find him, no matter how far he runs they’ll know where he is because they own him and that brand will lead them right to him. The brand is interesting. When he was at the carriage, it wasn’t visible on his neck, I don’t know if
