Status Updates From Old Venus

One story I enjoyed was a romance - a royal Venusian and a half black man, half Cherokee, who happened to be on the Titanic's maiden voyage. He was pulled down into the ocean by a creature, and ends up on the planet, Venus. Amazing idea! The Tumbledowns of Cleopatra Abyss was very interesting. I would love to have an expanded version of that story!

The characters are varied, but true to the old Venus sci-fi. A dangerous yet beautiful planet, with amazing flora and fauna and advanced species. There is always a human element in at least one of the Venusians. Earth sends its explorers, daredevils, the rich and the educated. Not all do well or survive the harsh environment. A great start to an amazing collection of "Golden Age Science Fiction" written in the 21s century! I recognize many of the past writers, but not current authors of the genre. I found every story fascinating and original, with similarities. What I didn't enjoy was the profanity. Science and technology have removed the mystery of the planets but imagination brings it back, for those who are looking.
