Trying so hard to finish this book this week but it’s been so hard bc I keep on getting distracted by wonderful nuggets of information! Also constantly amazed by the way that language reconstruction works. It’s like a puzzle. I love how they can tell when languages diverged and how the culture was like and where it was located depending on the activities the culture had! Mining, farming, herding giving us words!

A twelfth of the way into the book, and it’s called the Introduction. 😳

I’m enjoying this book so much. It is easy to follow but it feels dense to me since it sparks so much curiosity that I end up going on random google tangents after the author mentions something. How do the burial mounds of the Yamnaya differed from the Afanasievo’s? How did that writing system look like? Where is that forest, steppe, desert? How far did humans walk? Questions and questions and wonder and wonder
