Status Updates From Norden und Süden

This is difficult to read without finding it condescending, didactic & t boring.
I understand the idea of parable and didactic style but that’s the thing it contains no style. There is no story telling just adding the slight melodrama of Victorian times and a ‘romance’. Full of flat characters and attempting to emulate Austen and Dickens and failing badly. I’m hoping I can grow to appreciate this book.

And beside all that, Committee knew they were right in their demand, and they didn't want to have right all mixed up wi' wrong, till folk can't separate it, no more nor I can th' physic-powder from th' jelly yo' gave me to mix it in...."

"[T]he clear conviction dawned upon her, shined bright upon her, that he did love her; that he had loved her; that he would love her."

Margaret’s dad is such a drip. “We have to go within a fortnight. What? Have I found us a place to live or given any thought whatsoever to how this will be achieved? No, I rather thought you would handle all that, teenage daughter. Oh, and while you’re at it, could you just inform my wife of this major life change I’m forcing on you all, there’s a good girl.”
