Status Updates From Alpha Gene

I'm getting really fed up with all the mistakes. On the last few pages, we've had an/and, were/we're, looter/loiter (big difference!), and improperly capitalized names. If you're going to publish a book, the least you can do is proofread and send it to an editor (even just a friend) before it goes to print.

I fell asleep about six times while reading this last chapter, so either I am that tired or this book just really doesn't hold my interest. Also, I can't get over the grammatical errors that run through the book. Now it's "may be" instead of "maybe." I know English is the author's second language, but the book should have been proofread.

The first person POV is getting a little creepy. How does Dr. McKenna know what Peter did when he was locked in his bedroom? How does he know that Peter's dog is afraid of heights? There are so many unanswered questions. Also, so many things don't make sense. The dog is colorblind so it can't see things that glow? Really? And again with the apostrophes. Now they're just being left out willy nilly.

How old are these kids supposed to be? It's frequently mentioned that they're in fifth grade, but they act like they're in high school. Apparently they're already dating, but not only that... they watch documentaries on immigration reform and dissect frogs? What is this school?!

Officially cannot stand Peter or the constant misuse of the word "worst." Also, what's up with the apostrophes?

Interesting premise, but I'm a little put off by the frequent grammar and usage mistakes. My copy is an ARC, but I see no indication that it's an uncorrected proof. A good editor should have been able to fix the awkward phrasing and missing, incorrect, and overused words.
