Status Updates From El volumen del tiempo III

I liked this one the best so far. When I ask myself if you could just skip to this book though, I say no. I am really liking being in this story, its rhythm and language. I’m hooked now. Stay with it.

I do not feel unhappy. I feel I am among friends. But I don’t know what I’m doing here, and I wouldn’t know what to say if anyone asked.

but every time I got close, all I found was a small bright spot of longing. No ease, no calm, no place where the mind could lie down to rest.

As if one could separate Penelope’s woven cloth from Odysseus’s journey, as if one could even conceive of men’s history without women, the warp without the weft. Do you really believe, I asked, that Homer would have woven his epics the way he did if he hadn’t assisted his mother at the loom? If he hadn’t studied the shuttle’s movement, the colours’ alternation, the finished cloth? Who told Homer his first stories?

Honestly, it’s just incredible how this series keeps bringing philosophical material to the table without ever sounding absurd or out of nowhere…. Goddamn.
