Will be reading this in its entirety just to prep for my upcoming exam which thankfully got delayed by a week (I will be drinking extensively on Election Day). I also accidentally only read half of the second discourse

Second discourse is lowk lifechanging perspective shifting but it is also 2 am, I am in the library, my apt is a mile away, and I have more work to do so that preponderance will wait till morning.
Also I like how the oxford world classics edition uses The Chocolate Girl by Liotard, love that painting!

Introduction by David Woottoon: Good!
The First Discourse: The work that made Rousseau “viral” overnight. It reads like an old man raving against the corrupting influences of “progress.” I didn’t like the rhetoric flourish - just answer the damn question man! My main takeaway is that the young Rousseau is trying to find the balance between genuine virtue and the vice of the enlightenment.
