why do i get sucked into books that sound really interesting, but usually end up falling very, very flat?

I find this character particularly annoying because out of an island full of people, she still refuses to believe they see ghosts. Open your mind, girl.

So I do like this book. It's great setting-wise, and I enjoy a lot of the characters. However, Taylor ' s obsession with Brendan is getting a bit annoying. I understand where her guilt is coming from, but she's really dramatic. I also am still on an Experiment in Terror high, so I am a bit bummed out that it's not really creepy.
