Status Updates From The Mysteries of Udolpho

On my pilgrimage of OG gothic novels!! Very excited to read this - especially after the call out from the Jane austen’s bookshelf and northanger abbey!

Apparently this book is old enough that sentences like "Annette told us in the hallway how unhappy you was about signor Montoni..." are grammatically correct. I've noticed that odd use of "was" instead of "were" several times from different characters. And its not a dialect thing.

I've decided Annette is actually the hero of this novel. She has all the humor and charisma that Emily lacks.
