I found out that the author is yet another pretendian and I just can’t finish it. There were tip-offs: characters always referring to “my people,” sainted one-dimensional Indians, etc. Then I did the (very easy) research and his justifications for claiming to be Abenaki or whatever, the real nation’s objection, etc..
