Status Updates From Fates and Furies

Finished Part One, called “Fates.” At its best, it’s fascinating and transcendent. At times, it verges on a strange blend of pretension and near-banality in its preoccupations. But overall I’m very impressed by Groff’s ambitious approach.

Groff’s writing has teeth and tons of energy. It’s filled with surprisingly apt insights and observations, and even though it occasionally teeters on pretentiousness, it hasn’t tumbled over into that trap yet.
