the example a friendship on the rocks. connect anymore. slightly one sided. too much venting. idea was to do activities together less talking. I never thought of that.

5 stars. I am interested even with speculations.

90% a very good book. I would believe this issue trumps not only sensitivity other justification and approaches. I strongly thought so. I didn’t buy example but the concept in the chapters. I ended up really enjoying this book having read my fair share of books about anxiety, social anxiety, and cbt and so on. Lot of usable practicality.

ex/ friendship not working. fair communication. < activities together.

I used to feel like certain amount of drama would drain me. even reading and watching tv something I always need to not find it’s way into my subconscious in other aspects of my life. If I felt attraction to emotionality and too much interest in “meaningfulness” would take up brain space. I haven’t fully learned to control it but I have improved how I balance all of that. I am wired something close this.

I don’t know that I believe in hsp to the extent of the author. I happen to similar sets of issues. Not adhd but definitely focus based and coping struggles, social anxiety, general anxiety, chronic illness, mdd, and introversion. while I may not fully on board. I recognize that I struggle with casual convo maybe overshare in moments where others might not. purpose+ emotionality place in my life.

The last chapter talks about clear communication, expectations, and conflict. The connection, purpose, and reciprocity as fuel against burn out and disengagement for HSP.

I went back to early chapters there was chapter overwhelm, sleep, daydreaming, and accepting your particular sometimes different needs.

In my opinion, there is some conflict and communication that needs to be addressed first, and sensitivity wasn't the main issue for some examples.

Insta 4 days ago : Honestly surprised by how much i like part2. I am hard judge when I feel the situation calls for it. Im not entirely sold on HSP. I think of HS ity as a framework for overstimulation but agree or not regulating is still needed. I feel like i need a refresher on anxiety impact on intuition. Compassion and stress. I found part 2 really valuable. Part 1I against the case studies.

I hope I mention this but boundaries need to be communicated clearly without ambush not reactively and expectations should be fair. if it’s wielded as shield for criticism I don’t like it. * I have this in my notes twice. hey.

I had lot initial friction with how the topic is introduced. But I really enjoyed part 2 of the book. Which is the implementation and toolbelt portion. you can use this even if you’re not formally hsp. it’s tied with anxiety and stimulation both and you can see that in it’s approach. i myself need a refresher how I can handle those things. I like what I read and felt it was usable for me.

I am always intrigued by people’s influences. Snow has some interesting pop culture references from Devi, to Kumail and so on.

the manual kind of gets into boundaries: I think boundaries are part of that modern vernacular in a way that I distrust. That and gaslighting. I think it’s real and impactful but experiences I’ve had with this language is reactive. boundaries are all fine and good when it’s a two way street. it’s frustrating to see these practices to manipulate and control others’s reactions and feelings.

The way that I understand HSP is built on a spectrum of how I understand ADHD/ learning/ stimulation. Sensitivity is kind of it’s own thing and kind of not. Socialization, sociability, affectation — the framework you emphasize could be quite few different origins. But in the course of this handbook we’re looking people who are highly sensitized both for positive and negative experiences.
