"Sulis wondered if Joaquil didn’t like that Sulis knew more about her Territory than she did"
"Sulis wasn’t worried about the equitation lessons; of all the things she had to learn, riding was as natural to her as breathing. If anything, she might be able to show the teacher some desert techniques."
STOP. STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP
I'm DNFing this at 25% unless a miracle (PLOT) occurs

Story has very little tension. Stuff's gonna happen, but so far it's all talk.

Plot is interesting but my WORD I get annoyed when the female MC is the star of the convo even when she's not around. I already liked her. Now it's reminding me of The Wrath and the Dawn and I not like that book.

Seems enjoyable so far. But the whole young chosen one going to some kind of special school in fantasy novels is growing thin.Harry Potter was great and all but we don't need to follow every book hero through their school years.

Totally obsessed with the amazing worldbuilding, and the politics of their deities.

The two young protagonists, while likable enough, could be a lot more interesting than they are, and I'm tired of yet another fantasy world in which women are automatically consigned to home and hearth -- except the people of our spunky protagonists. But the *god-building* is not run-of-the-mill, and I'm sticking with the book primarily because I'm curious about how the theology will develop.
