The many stories contained in this book are, even in the context of knights, incredibly everday, which lends to their power. The everyday-ness, makes the stories timeless; everyone can appreciate stories of childish tantrums, the loss of our peers, or to act for our loved ones.
Some lessons are common these days, but the chapters I do not yet understand, I wish to read thrice over. I might pocket this permanently.

6 Pages in, I'm already struck by the humanity of sir Thomas Hawke. He fears he has not been enough for his children, to not be remembered by his youngest, and expresses remorse for the wrongdoings of his youth.
With it, Sir Thomas takes immediate responsibility for his fallibility as a human being; and instructs his children to do the same.
I estimate this will be the prevailing thread throughout the letters.
