Status Updates From The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

Toto fell asleep and the lion is drowsy. The scarecrow and tinman are not affected. They told the lion to run as fast as he can for they can’t drag him. The two make a chair with their arms to hold Dorothy and Toto. They make it to the green grass but the lion fell asleep in the field but not too far frome the grass. They are afraid they will have to leave him behind. They wait for Dorothy to wake up.

A storik flies by and stops to chat. It offers to help transport the scarecrow to the shore. The friends were happy to be reunited and they sang and walked together. He promises to help the Stork if he can but the scarecrow is off to deliver more babies. They come across a field of poppies and comment on their opinions. They have to cross this enormous field of poppies and poor Dorothy falls asleep.

Dorothy feels guilty for he is now in an even worse situation than before. The lion tells the tinman to grab his tail after he jumps in. He’s going to swim to shore and pull the raft. It was hard work but he did it! The raft had carried them too far in the wrong direction. They decide to walk along the river bank, back the way they came to get to the yellow brick road. They see where the scaecrow hangs onto the pole.

Ch. 8 They slept well and Dorothy wakes up refreshed. She dines on plums and peaches. The dark forest is behind them and a beautiful country is ahead. They finished the raft. They use a log pole but when they get into the middle of the stream the pole cannot touch the river bottom. Scarecrow pushed so hard on the pole it is stuck in the mud and he is swpt off the raft, hanging on the pole.
