Status Updates From Harold and Maude

oh man i said before maude was like a manic pixie dream girl except without romantic attraction. argh! wrong again! THEY'VE FALLEN INTO BED TOGETHER NOW!

i feel like her character is very very very much written for the benefit of the male character

okay i'm lost again. maude has fallen into a dam after an altercation and no-one is trying to rescue her. reminiscent of the very first hanging scene where the reaction of people is wrong. is this staged too? this is so confusing to me. i might have to go back and re-read this section.

while i agree with the sentiment of the book... oh gosh... this might be sacrilegious but maude doesn't seem like a real person??? in contrast the elderly lady in penny pollard (who has a range of emotions, including great sadness when penny takes her on an outing from her nursing home to her old house she shared with her late husband, only to find it's built over) maude feels not as fully realised

along with penny pollard i've just realised this is my second 'young person befriends elderly person and is enriched by the experience' book this week and that i like this topic greatly although harold is more interesting to me than maude who i feel is like a manic pixie dream girl except older/not a romantic interest but i'm open to this changing depending on how this story goes or what her backstory is...

okay this book is making sense now. the kid is always staging elaborate deaths and now this older lady has befriended him. they're both oddballs who seem to enjoy gatecrashing funerals???! (haha! so inappropriate!) obviously they are peas in a pod and I think what will happen is she will understand and see him in a way his mother does not

have just started and am totally confused. it starts with a hanging but it can't be because then there is something about a phone call and it's not funny guests are coming to dinner and it's not clear to me at all what is happening despite multiple passes. i might just keep going, with context it might start making sense...

Deeply loved this movie and am very much the same enjoying the novelization! Shout out to Chirp for the audiobook bundle and highly recommend Chirp if you’re looking for an Audible alternative

I have saw, and am a fan of the flick, it has a more subdued aura than the book which is really Irish black humour. It reminds me of my favorite book, the Third Policeman by Flann O'Brien.
