The kidnapper’s design is MASSIVE YIKES but considering Mori-sensei gave him an Irish name and her notes remark the Victorian depictions of kidnappers are strange to her and look like a “Dark Santa” I think she really didn’t know she just pulled a J-K-Rowling-all-the-bankers-are-goblins moment. The story is so good but this design is just too blood libel—it’s like I’m reading an ACTUAL Victorian work…
