Status Updates From The War of Undoing (Kyland ...

Hopeful I can finish this today :)

Just over halfway now and it seems that the war is ramping up and our four main characters are all mixing with the two sides. Which one is truly 'good' or 'bad'? It's hard to tell because in war both sides are often wrong. I like the naive children in this, which is unusual for me as usually I find these sorts of 'silly' choices irritating, but as it's good and I am keen to see where the story goes.

Hoping to get at least halfway through this one today. Seems like things are going to start to pick up now and get more intense.

Almost a quarter of the way into this now and although it's a slow burn to start with I am liking the directions it's going in and the way it's told in multiple 1st person diary entries...

So we have Tay, Miller and Ellstone, two brothers and a sister who all live in Tarot, a useless town where not a lot of happiness can be found. They kind of remind me a little bit of the Baudelaires from A Series of Unfortunate Events, and I am quite a fan of that series so I am definitely intrigued about the different directions this one will go.
Seems like there's already a rift between the Vulma and Humans...

Damn, a lot of seemingly disjointed events come together nicely. And scenes presented in the Prologue punch you in the gut.

It's good.

There were some slower bits, but, all in all I feel motivated to turn pages and discover what will happen to protagonits. Also, Gramor is cool.

So far, it's my favorite SPFBO finalist (but, on the other hand, just three were chosen). It can change as the book is long and things can go bad but at least the first 20 % of the book keeps me interested and curious what will happen next.

The pacing isn't very fast, but I enjoy it a lot so far. The way the scenes are presented through siblings eyes is made well and each of them has different voice.

Rather immersing.

I postponed starting this book due to its size. As I want to read all SPFBO finalists books I need to stop making excuses and start reading. Ay o let's go!
