God, this is such a good educational book, such cool info, but also scholarly!

Ok, at first I kinda believed what this dude was saying. I could see his vision. Was almost and slightly still convinced capitalism isn’t bad, but I realize that there are good parts to everything… but this past chapter made me be like ohhhh yeah he’s kinda insane. So interesting to see the contrasts of this dudes personality and beliefs. Definitely gonna watch the documentary or show about this.

Next chapter is about the commune in the US, I’m gonna eat it up, so excited, have to read about 50 pages tomorrow… 😿 But it’s so interesting, I don’t mind

Onto chapter 1! Introduction made everything super clear, but I wanna get into the nuts and bolts, TELL ME ALL THE CRAZY SHIT THAT HAPPENED, HUGH!

This book is already insane, I’m so excited to learn about the history of this religion/cult/commune. I love learning about capitalism and intersectional shit, BRING IT ON 😹

Notes so far: what happened to his parents? Urban notes briefly that he was raised by his grandparents and does not explain why, and that his very beloved grandfather died when he was 7. A traumatic loss experience..? Also, the prediction by a fortune teller that he would die at age 21, which turned out to be the age he experienced enlightenment (ego death).
