The story’s interesting but the writing style is distracting me. There’s a lot of symbolic phrases, the writing is more poetic than I’d like. I keep feeling I have to figure out what the characters are saying with their metaphorical lines. It keeps feeling like a riddle. It feels like there’s too much going on due to the writing but also feels like nothing is happening in the story. I might have to DNF it.

I’m barely on page 5 in this e-book ARC. I already love that there’s a page titled “A Note on Accessibility.” It shares what to expect and explains that it’s keeping neurodivergent readers in mind.
