Oh wow. So Australia tells China that the USA has messed up with Vietnam, and Nixon hears about it? I can just see flames shooting from the guy's skull.

There's a lot at the start that has nothing to do with Nixon. Just when I was ready to give myself permission to just skim it, review it, and forget it, it got interesting.

I'm going to force myself to read this,partly to see events through Australian eyes, and also b/c of obligation to publisher and NG, but so far? Zzzzzzzz

Nixon liked Whitlam's hawkish predecessor. Now the news is out: USA expects Australia to assume more burden of own military "defense". The Aussies are not amused. This comes at the time Nixon was unraveling around the Watergate hearings. From Australian POV.
