Status Updates From Romantasyland

I’m officially just trying to make it to the end at this point. The plot and reveals are fine, but I’m still struggling to actually care about what’s happening. And now we’ve gone from one very intense encounter to another with a completely different person the next night. Girl… can we slow down for a second?

I have THOUGHTS. I was starting to really get into the story, but the latest Shadow Daddy developments have me questioning a few things. I’m intrigued, but I’m not sure how I feel about where this is going yet. Definitely still reading to see how it all plays out.

We finally got some Rowan + Eve interaction, a little banter, and a heart-to-heart. I really enjoyed actually settling into a setting for a bit and getting some relationship development. I’m also VERY invested in the mysterious shadow figure with violet eyes. Give me more, shadow daddy. Overall, I’m much more into the story now!

Nooooo why are we leaving the castle already?! Where is my training montage and tension when the broody prince is the one to train her?! How is she supposed to defend herself against the Raven Crone?! We are moving too quickly from scene to scene. :(

We finally got a little more interaction and dug into her emotions, which made the characters feel more real. There’s still A LOT of commentary about how hot everyone is and the constant trope callouts are still a bit much but overall, Ch. 18 felt like an improvement and actually had me enjoying the story.

It’s cute, but something feels a little off. Everything is moving so quickly that I haven’t had a chance to settle into the story/world yet. We’ve already gone from work → apt → retreat → woods → campsite → city → portal with barely any time in each place. I’m loving the bisexual rep though! 🩷 Hoping the pacing slows down and things get a little more fleshed out.
