Wilford Woodruff said 'the people that have lived and passed away [for 1,800 years] never heard the voice of an inspired man, never heard a Gospel sermon, until they entered the spirit world..'

He referred to Brigham Young who said that the dead would get them to build Temple and redeem them with temple ordinances.
