Status Updates From Fortune Made His Sword

Kind of a different genre I recently started reading and couldn't put down. Let's see what I think of it. Its about King Henry the Fifth.

Hard pass on Henry V's Welsh girlfriend. She springs forth from 15th century Wales with modern ideals of equality*, is plucky and not afraid to tell it like it really is without repercussions, lecturing him about moral failings, but still has a sappy romance. In fact, she's loved by everyone, even Henry V's abusive dad. Think I'm going to puke.

(*Wales is characterised as a social utopia with bonus mystical magic)

An old novel about Henry V, divided into different "books" from different POVs. Just finished the first one which is his POV of his childhood and it's at times cute, at times borderline horrid and the author seems to be obsessed with his bodily functions.

Next up: his invented Welsh girlfriend. Why does Henry V always have an invented Welsh girlfriend in novels about him?
