Magic carpet??

There are words in this book that are difficult to pronounce and it takes away from my reading experience. Those words being in italics seems intentional.
This is the first book I’m reading that is Middle Eastern Persian so I’m interested to see where this goes.

I lowkey almost want to DNF this because the main character is annoying me. The very sudden attraction between them does not make any sense - all of a sudden she goes from wanting to kill him to avenge her best friend to suddenly being all over him.
I also don't understand his attraction to her when they've barely spent any time together... but other aspects are starting to build so I'll continue for now I guess

Motives still aren't clear about 1. Why he hasn't killed Sharzhard yet (maybe the fact she tells him stories at night like hsi mother did, but that feels weird as a motive to suddenly allow her to live after years of killing others) and 2. Why he kills all his wives in the first place
Sharzhard suddenly wanting to kiss him... ew, the sudden attraction doesn't make sense

Im enjoying this so far, its been on my TBR for years.
Im not totally entrenched in the main characters, their dynamic doesn't really make sense nor does the decisions the male MC is making, but we'll see where it goes.
Despina is my favourite so far - she's got the most personality out of anyone
