"They thrived on positivity and the cut of this suggestion’s jib was very much to their liking, a tiny primordial good emerging from the bin juice of Earth. The Council were thrilled to have call to smile again"

Doctor who fan? Pratchett fan? Douglas Adams fan? Then you need this book in your life. The way the author describes the human race is chef's kiss brilliant. Plus the furniture massacre scene cracked me up on first read. I've read it twice but like it so much I'm going to do what I call a casual slow read. I've only done that before with Pratchett and one of the Douglas Adams books so that's how much I like it.

spot on “Although one cannot ignore the very obvious fact that humans have cornered the market in nurturing affairs inimical to their best interests. They’ve layers of government devoted to planning how to monetise the breakdown of life as they know it.” He tutted, “Think tanks. And yes, there’s an irony in the name.”

Brilliant very Terry Pratchetesque “The status quo is maintained by one side pretending they’re not doing anything nefarious even though they very obviously are, and the other side pretending they haven’t noticed. The result is a string of barely functioning societies built around shareholder profit.”
