The author John Long wrote this book because it tells how big wave surfing came to be. It tells all of the stories on how some of the most famous big wave spots were discovered and also tells about the first people to surf them. It also says how there lives were and how hard it was to live. I know that he wrote this book to tellabout the early big wave surfers because in the beginning I has a paragraph about it. 40pg

This week I read a few really cool stories. One of the stories that really stood out to me was the first man to surf Mavericks. His name was Jeff Clark. One day in high school to saw a big peak of of a peninsula and wanted check it out. One day after school he paddled out there to some of the biggest waves of his life. He ended up surfing this spot for 17 years by himself untill a man from Santa Cruz paddled out. 40.

I really like the book that I am reading right now. I would give the book a 9/10 because it is really interesting on how the famous big wave surfers came to be. It tells how many of the surfers were scared of surfing some of the most popular spots on Hawaii and homwthey came over there fear and rode the spot. My reading goal for this week is 60 pages.

John Long the author of the Big Drop is trying to entertain the reader with interesting stories about the beginning of big wave surfing and how it progressed. John Long is trying to explain how fun it was to be some of the first big wave surfers and how amazing it was to find the famous big wave spots today in the early 60s all the way up until the late 90s.

In the this book there are series of 32 stories I this book and i am about 15 stories in. So the stories have been very interesting on how big wave surfing was in the last 50 years of the 1900's. One of my favorite stories was called the death of Dickie Cross. He was surfing sunset beach on a very big day with Woody Brown. The surf rose in height so they went to paddle in but Dickie never made it in 40 pages.
