I'm only the tiniest smidge into this, and holy shit it's so good? Everyone was right when they recommended it. I can't believe I waited so long to read. Like a breath of fresh air to read something so tightly written. The colonial setup is done absolutely masterfully already.

I understand maybe 50% of what’s going on in this book

I feel enormous pressure to like this book mostly from me telling myself I should be super into it so I'm scared to read it, but I'm liking it so far so I dunno what my problem is. an author not being scared to discuss eugenics has worked well in fantasy for me so far, including asoiaf and Abraham's The Dragon's Path, though someone will have to convince me this is fantasy lol it feels strictly scifi

So intrigued and interested in this one already. I wanted something political and oh boy have I found it.

Let’s hope a well beloved sapphic anti-colonial story can cure my reading slump
