I really like this. I have an uncorrected proof (ARC) hoping a few quirks are fixed.

Oh my, this is good. Gary Gusick brilliantly takes on the topics other authors avoid. He's like Lisa Gardner...writes cleverly crafted crime fiction that's feels real and still manages to be entertaining.

Gusick may have found a way to pull it out of the water after all, or at least partly so. Glad because I loved Officer Elvis and was so sad when it appeared this one was...no other term for it right now...fucked up. Even now, cannot imagine handing this book to any of the Black people in my family. They'd see the lynching at the start and put it down, and they'd look at me like What the hell!

Uh oh. I smell trouble. We start with a lynching, then we get to make fun of snooty people that might be racist...but the thing is, a lynching cannot be made funny. A humorous story can't come out of a lynching. I hope the rest of the book does something to assuage my concern, but I am nervous. I really liked this guys' last book, and I know he means well...

Oh so many cans! Oh so many worms! This may be an even gutsier novel than the last.
