Beth has self-esteem issues, somewhat understandable because of her last relationship, and she also is very distrustful. She jumps to the worst possible conclusions and makes assumptions constantly. She is becoming annoying. Ben is not really an alpha character, more beta. I don't know how long she believed she was in the last relationship but they never slept together.
