Yeah, no. I think it's time to bail on this one. They just revealed the L-bomb was dropped the day after the one night stand. And now they're jerking off together on Skype ten seconds after discussing and reliving trauma. I cannot handle the fact I'm only a quarter through this one and already so annoyed with NO connection to any character.

Dear author: this line doesn't make the ridiculous insta-love any less absurd. It merely draws attention to that absurdity.

Really? Mister "walled off to the world with a hardened heart" is crying himself to sleep and barely eating after going home from a business trip because apparently sleeping with a colleague he just met "awakened emotions in him"? I'm... I cannot even. This kinda nonsense is barely even believable in a world with paranormal soul bond type stuff. But in a world grounded by realism? This is so pathetically farcical.

Meh...

I'm not connecting to this one at all, which sucks because I expected to enjoy it a lot based on the blurb. But I can't stand how reactionary and judgey Gil is or the "I'm thinking bad things about this person but wow he's hot and look at me divulging all my dark secrets ten seconds after meeting him while wondering why I feel so comfortable doing so" trope. 🤦🙄

I've heard good things about this book. I'm looking forward to reading it!
