Finally starting this for the Realm Makers Genre Awards! Crossing my fingers it's better than the first book. :)

Back home from a weekend away and back to this book! All the chapters are blending because when I get to the end of one I don't pause, just keep going. Oh, Gabby, what have you done...

This book is so good. Better than the first one. I can see Gabby's awful decision coming, & I don't want her to do it yet all the pieces have been set up to make it inevitable. The suspense now lies in how she'll make it right. Also I didn't know about the Eastland tragedy before reading this book. Well rendered historical moment & it's given the weight of awfulness it deserves. Wow.

Pausing to say how much I love the fact that Michael conducts his missions differently now than he did before he met Gabby. Love when a fictional couple challenges/inspires each other to be better people. And not with a cliched "You make me want to be a better man!" speech but with ACTIONS.

These guys. Sigh. Gabby, you worry me. I get it, but you worry me. But I get it. And Michael. Sigh. So far the stakes in this story have been constantly rising from chapter 1; this author never lets up. In other words, no other book is getting read until I finish this one.

I finally have it in my hands, the next piece of Gabby and Michael's story. And yes, Michael is back on the page. So glad Evander didn't make me wait another 50 pages for him to show up! And now I can sleep.
