I love the contrast between the families… especially the moms. Neither is a bad mom… but while Nick’s is cold, distant, even from him, and always put-together, Em’s mom is warm, caring, and doesn’t care if her daughter gets flour on her favorite dress.
It’s no wonder he wants to be apart of their family, and is so scared of ruining his friendship with Em’s brother.

I love a good brother’s best friend romance and I love when the author writes the characters personalities really differently. Em sounds very sweet and innocent, but I love how Nick is your typical dirty, vulgar teenage boy.. only can tell a little bit that he was wrote by a girl lol.
