A religious critique
Ecclesiastes 8:16-17. Jung acknowledges the concept of trying to reconcile contradictions in the human psyche and within the archetypes
Quranic examples - Ayat Al Kursi - God reveals to humans only what he wants to.
17:85 all that we understand about the soul is given by God. Though Jungian concepts shape contemporary psychology, this understanding which seems vast is actually limited.

The author quotes Barone-Chapman on Anima and Animus saying that Jung fails to distinguish his own subjective experience from fact on the matter of gender. The author does not acknowledge that this critic can be applied to all of Jung’s work. As far as we can see the framework of the psyche which Jung created is based on his own subjective experiences. However I do think the author understands this.

The book continues to touch on the basics of Jungian concepts. Which of course should be no surprise to the reader. One standout is the chapter on Anima and Animus. The author really emphasises the idea that these concepts are outdated and tinged with sexism. This repetition makes one feel as if the author would like to distance themselves from Jung’s view on gender. The author does not do this elsewhere so far.

The first chapter provides an outline of Jungian concepts. It outlines the basics of the theories that drive Jungian concepts. The concepts seem border line religious and are derived empirically. These concepts may turn off readers who are more scientifically inclined
