Stories 9-10

Gropen: 3.5 stars. A couple buys an old house and finds the former owner's ghost had his own stubborn ideas about where he wanted to be buried. Namely, in the backyard. And just you try and stop him!

Pasnaljer: no rating. Didn't understand much of this one as it is in Öland dialect. Seems to be another filler story about Theorin's series character Gerlof.

Stories 7/8

Grenwerk: 3 stars. A poisonous, addictive spring out in the wilderness does creepy, weird things to people who drink from it.
Great idea, would have been excellent if not set in modern times.

Vita frun: 2.5 stars. Cute story about how an husband disguised himself as a ghost to play a trick on his wife.

Varken fågel eller fisk: 2.5 stars. Hungry fishermen catch a swan for dinner: The swan's having none of it.

Spökvandring: 3.5. Ghost tour guide who's been making jokes about an ancient grave to his tours gets a surprise visit from the ghost inside. Show some respect, boy!

Perro del Mar: 4 stars. Fisherman saves a giant dog from drowning only to find out he's a menace on land.

Stories 2-3 (of 15)
Jungfruns hämnd: 3 stars. fishers find an abandoned boat weighted down with rocks. They pull it to the nearest dry land and inadvertently solve a decades old disappearance. A bit awkward.

Utgrävingarna i Rälla ödekirka: 5 stars!!! 2 very ill people dig up an ancient plant sagas say was stolen from the sea god & they believe will cure them. Lovecraftian horror. Superb!

...and now SWEDISH! This short story collection is supposed to be half paranormal, half detective stories. We'll see.

The first story "Vägryttaren" is about a boy on his last day of summer holiday body surfing in the roiling waves of the Baltic Sea. Good, but not suspenseful. 3 stars.
