I'm struggling folks. The writing feels stuffy.

He lives in an asylum due to his sensitivity through touch BUT he visits a brothel?!

Does the asylum run day trips? Group discount?
He can't touch people, but touching a whore is ok?

The story hasn't started yet and feels a slog.

The author LOVES words. As do I. But so far it's making the story hard to sink into.

I just can't right now. I might try later, sounded right up my alley... But I can't get through the first chapter, I'm so bored, and I have no tolerance for boring starts. Slow is fine. But I'm just no intrigued right now.

despite steampunk being Absolutely My Thing, i've been disappointed by the vast majority (probs because the parasol protectorate was the first i read and tbh you can't top that) but this one seems really promising so far!!
