So these dummies didn't really have problems and it ended in that horribly abrupt and unsatisfying way that Harlequins sometimes do. But there were things I enjoyed about it. It's a shame the author got lazy and stopped having them talk like humans every so often.

She's a lawyer and she works in a women's shelter. She shouldn't suddenly be this weird about meeting new people. She's not an antisocial hermit.

I don't know if he's an alpha so much as a weird robot but I'm finding this kind of funny. I don't know if it's intentional but the way he changes the subject after dropping news that makes her emotional is becoming funny.

By the way, what does the hero do? I'm halfway through the book and all I know is it's business-y and he's rich and busy. I have no idea what his job is.

On the one hand, it's weird writing for a character to think something and then voice that thought a few moments later. On the other hand, at least they're communicating to some degree.

I don't think honesty (about not looking for longterm relationships) and presents are the defining characters of healthy relationships with women or treating them well. He makes weird arguments.

Also, for a brainy lawyer, her instinct is to throw things (even though she doesn't) way too often.

So aside from being big and all the kissing, his most alpha trait so far is not really caring about her priorities and expecting her to slot into his schedule.

So she likes that he's hot and he likes that she's not into wealth or material things.

The difference between 32 and 26 is not nothing but they were making such a big deal of the age difference I went back and checked. 6 years is not a huge deal. Why is this book acting like it's a generational difference?

It's weird how sometimes there are brand names (Ferrari) and sometimes there are not (any clothes).

Why is it supposed to be relatable for romance heroines with flat stomachs and tiny waists to be self-conscious about their giant breasts? I will never understand this.

He doesn't talk like a human sometimes. It's weird.

And even though he's not interested, it's wounding his pride how reluctant and combative she is.

Do I have to read the sequel to find out about this dumb feud? Because I do not care.

So he's experiencing a sudden, bewildering attraction to her but he's capable of acting cool. And so she doesn't trust him and doesn't want to give into her own attraction and risk getting hurt or looking foolish. Typical story.

Also, considering these women are all perfect hourglasses it seems a little hypocritical to go in so hard on thin women.

I know it's typical romance novel stuff but is she a perfect hourglass or is she fat? Is she magically over a size 8 everywhere except her waist?

I do appreciate that this thing about him getting shares in the company wasn't saved as a big reveal for them to fight about later.

I get the heroine's characterization for the most part but the hero's characterization is weird. It's at least partially due to this cockamamie plot.
