Wow, this is incredibly beautiful. Nouwen's friend encouraging him to take on this cause of writing to the secular world is truly a call of the Spirit and the soul that thirsts for it. I am in tears over the beautiful simplicity of being the Beloved. In the inheritance of Christ, we get to be the Beloved. Not only do we get that, we can share with our friends! How beautiful! How remarkable!

The friend to friend narrative is starting to wear thin for me as I'm getting near the end of this book.

This was the first book by Henri that I have read, although I have read excerpts of his writing in countless other books. I found his writing, simple, truthful, honest and poignant. The book was an incredible encouragement to my faith, and reminding me of my belovedness. It’s an easy read. It took me maybe two or three days and all to read- I could pick up an instantly be encouraged by this great man of faith.
