Amazing Spider-Man #348 -
IS Jonah back at the Daily Bugle? Maybe I missed something!

Both Sandman and Spider-Man feel like they don’t belong…

Maybe being a reserve Avenger isn’t all that great.

They both get a tip and deal with a domestic threat… Which is against current charter rules.

Thinking he was getting fired, Sandman quits.

Peter realises he’s got a lot going for him in his life.

Issue #347 -
Venom unfreezes Spider-Man on a deserted island.
He wants no interrupts and no heroes bailing Peter out.

Interestingly, Venom is shown to have some camouflage abilities.

Anyway, Peter realises to survive, he needs to give the madman what he wants; Spider-Man's death!

After Peter's plan works, Eddie decides to stay on the island, finally feeling free.

Issue #346 -
Venom is out for one thing and one thing only, the death of Spider-Man!

MJ really didn't like being shuffled off to her sisters but the way that Venom comes after Spidey, it was the only option.

Though again, we see Venom save innocents.

The issue ends with Spider-Man falling for Venom's trap!

Issue #345 -
Silver Sable works as the middle person between Spidey and Sapirdyne Chemicals.

Spidey agrees to get paid to do what he was gonna do anyway; search for Cardiac.

We learn why Cardiac has the powers he does and see him use them to sink an entire container ship!
(After a pointless Boomerang appearance.)

We also witness the return of Venom!

And a piece of symbiote is left with Cletus…

Issue #344 -
Cardiac and Spidey have a bit of a conflict when Cardiac wants to blow up chemical warehouses.

Rhino is hired to stop Cardiac but Spidey interrupts their fight.

Cardiac accomplishing his goal means another explosion in a warehouse.

The owner of Sapirdyne Chem. is informed that Spidey tried to stop the unknown hero... and wants to hire him?!

Also Eddie Brock is cellmates with... Cletus Kasidy!

Issue #343 -
Spider-Man and Black Cat team-up once again to crash a meeting of villains.
The mastermind is… Chameleon!

BC does quite well though, there’s too many for her to deal with alone.

Luckily, Peter regains his powers!

Of course, Chameleon gets away while his grunts are arrested.

Side effect, Felicia was partially exposed to the machine and her powers are gone (weird)!

Issue #342 -
Peter struggles adjusting to being only a bystander.

Not that he’s given much opportunity to sit on the side-lines when Scorpion attacks!

Of course Peter can’t take on the enhanced menace alone and calls in Black Cat (who knew Pete lost his powers).

I liked the talk the ex-couple had but this was really a fight-centred comic.

Peter gets a clue to who Turner really is.

Issue #341 -
Peter actually did it! He stripped himself of his powers (so much for his responsibility).

Dr Turner, who is not a kind man, contacts Tarantula to inform him of the web-slingers' new weakened status.

Lucky Spidey’s got some good friends in Flash and Felicia who help him.

Flash ends up in hospital and Felicia is suspicious of Spider-Man’s poor form.

Issue #340 -
Skipped pretty much all of this.

I did read the bit where Spidey trusts a random doctor to run tests on him, finds out that the machine he created weakens him and doesn't suspect this Turner guy of anything untoward?

Then after a fight, realises he doesn’t want to risk his life anymore and wants to be stripped of all his powers??

Issue #339 -
Caeser's plan worked. MJ met with him at the abandoned set...

Turns out though, the cop that was helping MJ is her 'biggest fan'... and is NOT a cop!

The end sees MJ saving herself and Ock finally believing Spidey when he goes for the Burundite canister instead.


Not a bad story line. I think just a little lacklustre after seeing a more dramatic Sinister Six fight on screen.

Issue #338 -
Peter gives his Aunt May a little bit of comfort.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Ceaser is making plans to be reunited with MJ…

Hilariously, MJ made a comment about so many costumed heroes being around.

The Sinister Six crash the rocket launch!

Sandman refuses to kill an innocent while Doc Ock kills an engineer to ensure the rocket launches with the poison.

Then... Hobgoblin poisons Spider-Man!

Issue #337 -
We learn Doc Ock’s plan is… to hold the entire Earth for ransom!

He says so the Sinister Six can all rule together but of course, that’s not the truth.

Firstly, Pete and MJ walk down a street (Wolverine & Punisher cameo?) then show us what a healthy relationship looks like.

Then Flash takes on goons for Felicia.

Anyway, Spidey’s not having a good day and every villain gets away from him!

Issue #336 -
Peter learns of Nathan’s plan to take care of May after he’s gone.

Then at a yacht christening, Vulture attempts to kill Raymond Trask for Kingpin.

There’s been quite a few cameos these last few issues!

Anyway, Chance (a mercenary) shows up just to leave as quickly after Spidey webs his helmet.

The end sees Doc Ock helping Vulture and heart-breakingly, May says goodbye to Nathan.

Issue #335 -
Doc Ock continues his recruiting, with Hobgoblin and Mysterio!

Meanwhile, Peter feels a bit sore and (once again) loses his belief that he’s any good.

I kind of get it, I need validation too but this seems like a constant issue for Pete.
He does get it after he beats the Shocker, with science!
A bittersweet moment between May and Nathan.

Later, Peter learns something’s brewing…

Issue #334 -
A new suited Doc Ock entices Electro to join him!

We learn uni students are more impressed by Iron Man and MJ’s director gets a light dropped on him for losing his cool!

Completely moving on, May wants Peter to follow Nathan. Once again, the old man gets caught up in some trouble.

Meanwhile, Ock threatens Sandman to join his new Sinister Six!

Not sure I read the original team so I'm excited.

Charles Vess wrote a little essay about how and why he wrote a Spider-Man story in the Highlands of Scotland.

It was cool seeing the real photos with the drawings next to each other.

There’s also a two-page line art with Spidey looking over a small little town. The details were very well done.

Spirits of the Earth -
I didn’t know anything about this story and if I had more time and/or patience, I’m sure it would have been more enjoyable.

I really liked the art though. The backgrounds were my favourite.

Peter and MJ go to Scotland and wind up in a mix between fantasy and sci-fi.
