So cool to compare Albrect Durer and... ugh. What was his name... Jan van Eyck! Sometimes... But his Four Horsemen--unbelievable. Wow. The Reformation did wonders for the church, sure... but what it did for ART!

Whoa... This book keeps challenging my thoughts and interests. I would've said that there was no way I'd become obsessed with "icons" but after reading about Andres Rublev's icon about the Godhead AND... the actual point of iconography in the first place... FIVE pages of notes. And I could've taken twice as many. I have this crazy desire to write about someone becoming an iconographer in her own private study time.

I'd love to see those windows at Sainte Chapelle. Wow.

I'd never heard of Hildegard of Bingen or Ordo Virtutum... but wow. What a woman! And the play is cool!

When I first looked through the book, seeing the Book of Kells and Gregorian Chant as two of the first "masterpieces" unnerved me. I had NO DOUBT they both are. But I misunderstood what the Book of Kells was (yay for being wrong!) and had never liked Gregorian Chants. Ahem. I took triple the notes (almost quadruple) on Gregorian Chant than I did the others. I'm fascinated. Even found one on YouTube I don't mind.
