Status Updates From The Trial of Magdalena Over...

There's some form of a plot starting to come together--maybe, can't guarantee it won't disappear or come to nothing like everything else so far. But even if we finally have something plot-worthy, over 60% into a novel is way too late for things to finally start having (potential) meaning and impact. I maintain this should have been the story of Magda's life; the letters from former clients are much more interesting.

Love interest is getting fleshed out, but Magda hasn't changed since page 1. Still not sure what the plot is apart from "counting down a year until FMC faces trial for dark witchcraft". Things happen, but they don't seem to affect anything or have any relation to Magda or her trial. Everything feels like filler except the few letters from bestie/lawyer back home.

Almost done!

I'm so mad at this book right now because I don't know how to feel. I need a minute.

Struggled with the first half.
Desperately sucked into the back half.

Big mad at the ending if this is a standalone...
locked in if there's going to be a sequel.
