Status Updates From The Thing Itself

The first two installments/stories are, i think, setting this up as a collection of disturbing literary vignettes where The Beyond impinges on reality, often through the lens of philosophy.

Of course, being Adam Roberts it could go anywhere.

Certainly an unusual book, one might even say novel. There are some passages of Modernist experimentation, which frankly I could do without. Overall it’s good though. If a bit lacking in action and excitement. Plenty of interest.

Back on track. The action's kicking off when suddenly the setting, protagonist and writing style totally change--and it totally works. Think I'm getting the hang of the thing itself now. But you never know.

Oh well, not as great as I thought, but still very good. It is the first Adam Roberts book wherein I’ve had to skip a bit. I really can’t be doing with unpunctuated text. Too confusing. It’s only one chapter so far so fingers crossed he won’t do it again. Aside from that, it’s a great read.
