The timeline of this series has become seriously wonky since the last book.

The plot of this book moves in fits and starts. It's all so haphazard.

The tiger in an enclosure launches itself at the barrier of the enclosure and immediately my mind went to Stars & Stripes. I feel
like we don't acknowledge it enough but a lot of these series were trying to emulate the Cut & Run series.

Ben and his toxic masculinity is haunting. Not that Nik isn't suffering from toxic masculinity and misogyny but I guess since we spend so much time in Ben's head, his take on things becomes more pointed, especially since it's obvious that Nik can't possibly see the world we do considering his life experience.

It was like watching a child who’d set fire to a set of curtains because he could and because he’d wanted to see what the flames would look like, recoil in horror as the conflagration spread to the wallpaper, the carpet, the furniture, consuming his whole house and destroying everything, when all he’d wanted was a tiny, contained flicker.
