I definitely want to do more research on the relationship between early Japanese esoteric art and Tibetan art. It’s also really interesting how a lot of Indian Buddhist practices have to be understood through Chinese/Japanese analogs. I assume this isn’t the case for Hindu practices, which makes me wonder why, since both Buddhism and Hinduism would have a pretty rich textual corpus at this time?
