Status Updates From Dinky Hocker Shoots Smack!

i'm such a slow reader recently :( this is good though. a bit triggery ("push away from the table" was something i hadn't heard for decades which lead to thoughts of padlocks and overeating and retrospective thoughts of not actually ever being overweight and adult me feeling sad) but it's quirky and i like it. apparently there is an "after school special" on youtube that could be worth a look...

All the teenagers are good (even p.john who I thought was an a-hole initially!) mrs hocker is a problem tho. natalia is relatable. i wish i grew up in this environment, working in a bookstore in greenwich village and going to diners and ordering food and having cool parents like Tucker and p.john’sdad (he was the opposite of what I expected but then it’s like OH OF COURSE)

this is a tricky to describe book because it's sort of an ensemble cast. at the heart of it i think are the two teenage boy/girl relationships that are unfolding (i'm hoping dinky doesn't get thin and lose her personality in the process!) although the parents have their own storylines too...

looked up carmina burana on youtube and was like, OH! THAT MUSIC!

now i need to think up an activity where i can listen to that in the background as motivation...

only on page two and i LOVE the cat ad!!!

am feeling cautiously optimistic that this book and i are a fit <3
