Status Updates From De essays

From the introduction:
Montaigne knew that in the world of creation nothing ever is; it is only becoming; always shifting, changing, becoming. Yet Montaigne strove to follow the Delphic injunction, Know Thyself. He sought to discover the permanent strand in the transient, variegated flux of his experience and sensations, which alone gave continuity to his 'being' as Man.

With a book that is comprised of a collection of random 'assays', I find it appropriate to include my own random musings with my reading updates. The first thing I have to share: I feel very jealous that Montaigne had the ability at 37 years old to simply decide to retire to his estates to devote himself to leisure, reading, and thinking.

Needless to say, this is going to be a long-term read.
