i like this book! i appreciate the complex way that this book narrates the relationship between the african diaspora in the US and africans in africa, primarily south africans, and how style became a shared conduit to think through the overlap of their struggles. but also, the differences and how africa became an aesthetic resource not immune from exploitation, even by black american communities.
