Of course they liked it when you prepared food for them, but as long as there was something tasty in the vicinity, they could find it, come hell or cabinet door. The only thing they couldn't do, of course, was use the can opener. Aurora had caught Mouse working out her rage on a can opener once, but they didn't speak of it. For the most part, Mouse was a dignified cat with the occasional bursts of the ridiculous.

Maybe she could help him get over it? She scoffed at herself. She was seriously thinking about trying to heal him with her magic vagina. Yeah, right. It seemed like he'd been like this for awhile. What could she really do to help?

"I'm losing my marbles, Mouse. Let's go see who this joker is"
Mouse meowed and gave her a skeptical look, as if she didn't believe Aurora's flippant attitude.
"Keep it to yourself, cat, or I won't buy you any more feather sticks" Feather sticks were Mouse's obsession and the threat was false. Mouse would just sit on her face while she slept until she got what she wanted. But it made Aurora feel better to pretend.

"Sure." Aurora hung up the phone and reverently placed the little device back on her bedside table. When she'd been rotting away in prison, she'd never imagined such a device. Hell, she'd never imagined indoor plumbing.
I often think I'd love to know what it was like to live hundreds of years ago…then I remember the lack of indoor plumbing…and how recent an invention toilet paper actually is…*shudder*
