That opening with Nerdy Steph and the absolute retail-like pragmatism the narrator brings to "the sex work economy" immediately sets the tone. Flynn takes this gritty, hard-boiled, street-smart perspective and smashes it right into a classic, eerie gothic ghost story setup when Nerdy Steph's stepson enters the picture. It’s the perfect blend of a noir-style con artist narrative and genuine psychological suspense.
